Personally, I believe sex ed should begin in late elementary school. Many children begin puberty without having any ideas what is going on in their bodies. If schools don't teach sex ed until middle/high school, almost all of the students will have already hit puberty and had to go through this awkward time in their life unprepared.
I'm not saying start teaching about condoms and STDs that early, but at least begin to acknowledge that boys and girls aren't exactly the same.
I believe that in middle school is when students need to be taught about birth control and STDs. They need to understand the risks of sex before they start having it. Many people may think that middle school age children are not likely to be sexually active, but when I went through middle school we had at least 5 girls pregnant, one of them being a 6th grader. Perhaps if they had been informed about their birth contol options, these unplanned pregnancies could have prevented.
Sex shouldn't be considered "dirty" or "taboo" but it should be considered something that should be saved for a committed relationship. If sex is taught to be "taboo", children will not ask questions because they might be too embarassed, and just try to figure things out on their own. They should be taught the risks, stresses, and conflicts involved in casual sex, but also how to have safe sex.

The New Me.
I am sick and tired of the life I am living. If this summer has proved anything to me, it is that I am not doing anything good. For myself. For my family. For anything. I am merely existing. That is sick and unacceptable.
At midnight tonight, I am pledging for a change. I want to be a better person. I want to be healthy. I want to contribute, instead of just sitting and sucking up Mother Earth's dear oxygen. Although I know no one will read this, this is an important testament to the change that needs to, and WILL happen.
My life isn't going ANYWHERE. That is about to come to an end.

Week 13 - Sick
I have to go to the doctor tomorrow because I have been sick for 2 weeks. Maybe I shouldn't have let it go this long, but I guess that is my fault. I hate doing to the doctor. =(

Week 12: Cleveland
Tomorrow, my fiance and I are going to be going to Cleveland to visit my brother. I cannot wait because I LOVE travelling. Also, on Sunday, we're going to go see the Flight of the Conchords in Kent, Ohio. It's gonna be a blast.

Week 11 - Phone!
Tomorrow I'm gonna go purchase a new cell phone, because mine is breaking. I'm extremely excited about it! It's made specifically for texting, which is probably one of my favorite things to do!

Week 10 - Finishing Up
Most of this week I've been working on getting some of the things in my dorm packed up. I'm ready for school to be out. I want moving out to be as painless as possible.

Week 9 - Spring Break
Today will be my first day of Spring Break. I'm gonna go home this weekend, but I doubtI will have much time to actually enjoy my break. I have a terrible amount of homework that I must do. But I suppose that is my fault.

Week 8 - Hannah's Home
This week has been pretty good. I've been bogged down with tons of homework, but I got half of it done today. My best friend Hannah will be home today from Memphis. I'm really excited. I haven't seen her since Monday.

Week 6 - Bored.
This has been a really boring week. All week long I feel like there hasn't been anything to do. Maybe my attention span is just incredibly short...Hmm...

Week 5: Home!
I can't wait to go home tomorrow. I've been at school for two weeks straight and I can't wait to go see my mom. I doubt there's going to be many more weekends that I am at school...

Week 4: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Tonight I'm going to go see the play Sweeney Todd with all my good friends. I'm pretty excited because it is one of my favorite musicals. Before we go though, me and Hannah are going to get some dinner at Towers and I think I may play Fable. It should be a good time.

Week 3 - Fable II
I can't wait for the weekend because I get to play Fable II, which is a game on Xbox 360. I can play it for hours on end, mostly because it is so realistic. You can get married, have kids, have affairs, and of course go on quests and fight bad guys. I'm kind of a dork, but at least I know how to have fun.
Week 2 - What I am Doing This Evening
This evening Josh and I are going to be making spaghetti. After I get out of class, we're going to go to the grocery store to buy ground beef, garlic and onion powders, and banana peppers to put in the sauce. It's going to be delicious.
Week 1 - The Snow Days
This week we had some awesome snow days here at Marshall. Hannah and I walked to Pullman Square and played Xbox. It's pretty great not having school.
